Mountain Island Ranch

Mountain Island Ranch’s 123,000 acres straddle the Colorado/Utah border. It is the largest Certified Organic operation in Colorado, hosts 10 different conservation easements, and has practiced a collaborative approach to management for over 30 years. Since 2016, Ranch Advisory has established over 30 land health monitoring sites, pursued cross-property boundary management approaches with the Bureau of Land Management and has embarked on a series of habitat improvement projects intended to provide additional foraging opportunities for migrating elk and mule deer. We have also worked to bring an abandoned farm back into production and are pursuing large-scale wetlands and riparian improvement projects.

My family and I are privileged to steward a large, complex, multigenerational working ranch with twin goals of profitability and conservation. We didn’t want just another cattle, hay and hunting operation. We wanted to find a team that would have fun helping us realize our vision of ecological sustainability and dreams of becoming a leading industry example through collaborative partnerships and a strong community ethos. Amb west

The AMB West ranches are owned by successful entrepreneur Arthur Blank, co-founder of Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta Falcons. Mr. Blank pursues the theme of “excellence” on his ranches, and Ranch Advisory was hired to help improve rangeland health, wildlife habitat, and riparian condition while running livestock, producing hay, and delivering an exceptional guest experience. Current initiatives include altering grazing management to enable migration of wildlife, removal of encroaching conifer trees, and noxious weed management.

We hired RAP to enhance performance of natural resources on our Montana ranches, and their team-oriented approach has resulted in ecological and financial improvement. Working with innovative partners like RAP is critical to achieve our goal of preserving Montana’s natural beauty while utilizing the spectacular setting for outdoor recreation and bringing people together in meaningful ways. Fort Union ranch

Fort Union Ranch is a 98,000-acre cattle operation in New Mexico that once hosted the Santa Fe Trail. The ranch pursued a set-stocking strategy to grazing management since the late 1800s when the US Cavalry called the area home, and this approach was changed when Ranch Advisory was contracted to manage the property in 2017. Current initiatives include improving aging infrastructure, increasing stocking rates, shifting genetics in the livestock herd, and implementing low-stress livestock handling. Riparian areas that had once known extensive grazing durations are being managed more intensively, and strong willow growth and riparian improvements are now being observed.
